We are thrilled to announce that the Arizona Department of Education is partnering with New Voters to present the Young Voter Registration Challenge to recognize students running voter registration drives in their schools. Winners will be recognized by the Arizona Department of Education and the State Board of Education. The goal of this challenge is to register Arizona youth to vote and create spaces where civics thrives!

New Voters’ team of 10 PA high school students planned, coordinated, and executed the largest high school voting event in the country. GradFest brought together 300+ recent high school graduates to celebrate their accomplishments and connect them to important voting resources, from voter regression forms to absentee ballot request forms.

The New Voters Policy Team wrote and introduced a bill to the PA State House in October 2022 advocating for stronger school-led high school voter registration efforts. Our local high school team in PA organized a Lobby Day in Harrisburg where they spoke with 30+ PA legislators, securing 20 co-sponsors for the bill.

Our 2021 “Teens Get the Vaccine” campaign reached over 2,000 students through coordinating a Q&A former Director of the CDC, Tom Frieden, 100+ student video testimonials, and in-school vaccination clinics at high schools, educating Miami and Philadelphia area high schools about the importance of COVID-19 vaccinations.

We were recognized in the 2020 United Nations Youth Solutions Report for our work augmenting “peace, justice, and strong institutions” by strengthening American democracy through youth civic engagement like voter registration.

In collaboration with the Harvard Votes Challenge, this program engaged high schools in the greater Boston area through civic mentorship. Our first summit took place in November 2019 at 18 local high schools.

New Voters organized a virtual week of action to mobilize young people during the off-year in summer 2021. The student organizers led voter registration drive trainings, hosted advocacy workshops, and coordinated speaker panels to connect young people with the resources they need to get more involved in their communities.
